Page yields are estimates per cartridge or bottle. Actual results vary with content, printer settings and use. Extra black cartridges do not increase colour yield. Compare the stated pack contents and yield details on each product.
Choosing ink for the Canon iP2500 starts with the correct PG-40 / CL-41 supply family. Once compatibility is confirmed, compare who makes the ink, what each pack contains and the stated yield. Original, remanufactured and compatible describe different supply types.
Original ink is manufactured by Canon and sold under the Canon brand. Choose the exact number and colour specified for your printer. Standard and higher-capacity versions may be available within the same family; check each listing rather than assuming every ink number has an XL option.
Remanufactured cartridges reuse an existing cartridge body that a third-party supplier has prepared and refilled. These products are labelled separately from original Canon supplies. The supplier’s refurbishment process and ink formulation can vary. Our PG and CL aftermarket cartridge packs are identified as remanufactured.
Compatible ink is supplied by a third party as a replacement for the specified original supply. It is not manufactured by Canon. Compatible cartridges and refill bottles must match the printer’s ink family and colour. A similar-looking cartridge or bottle is not enough to confirm compatibility.
Compare the same ink number, capacity and pack quantity when assessing value. A lower pack price does not necessarily mean a lower cost per page. The product cards show the listed yield alongside verified ink volume for original Canon products where available. Actual print output depends on content, settings and use.
Read the pack contents carefully. Some printers use a black cartridge and one tri-colour cartridge; others use separate colour tanks, sometimes with both pigment black and photo black or additional photo colours. A colour pack may exclude pigment black. Extra black cartridges provide spares and do not increase the colour ink yield.
For document printing, an extra black supply may be useful. For mixed documents and colour work, compare the full sets listed for your printer. Original single supplies can replace only the colour that is running low; multipacks provide the combinations shown in each product title. Buy the quantities you expect to use.
Confirm the model number on your printer and match it to the product’s compatibility list. Keep new ink sealed until needed and follow the official Canon manual for installation or refilling. Review the individual listing and store return terms before ordering.
